Briefing on 15th CISMEF for overseas institutions held in Guangzhou

On Jan 23, the briefing on the 15th China International SME Fair (CISMEF) for overseas institutions was held in the Garden Hotel, Guangzhou.

Guests present at the event included Zhong Xuanhui, secretary general of CISMEF Organizing Committee and deputy secretary general of Guangdong Provincial Government; Ye Dingda, deputy director general of CISMEF Organizing Committee Secretariat; Yao Dehong, director-general of Guangdong Provincial Bureau of SMEs; and Badir A. Almusharrekh, minister plenipotentiary of the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

The event was chaired by He Zuoxian, deputy director general of Guangdong Provincial Bureau of SMEs and director general of the Bureau of CISMEF.

At the briefing, Zhong pointed out that the CISMEF has successfully held 14 sessions, promoting exchanges and cooperation among global SMEs and showcasing their products and technologies. He invited the attending overseas institutions in Guangzhou to organize their SMEs to take part in the 15th CISMEF.

According to Ye, the Chinese government attaches great significance to the development of SMEs, and is ready to make CISMEF a bridge for attending governments to expand cooperation and promote win-win development of SMEs.

On behalf of Secretariat of CISMEF Organizing Committee, Yao introduced the general plan and preparations for the 15th CISMEF, which will cover an exhibition area of about 150,000 square meters with 6,000 booths. The thematic exhibition and overseas exhibition will be held on Oct 10 to 13 in PWTC Expo in Guangzhou, which will cover an exhibition area of 50,000 square meters with 2,400 booths. The 15th CISMEF will continue to organize a few sub-events, such as China SME Summit, SME Cross-border Matchmaking Event, and 2018 China Makers Innovation & Entrepreneurship Competition.

On behalf of the UAE Ministry of Economy, Badir A. Almusharrekh announced that UAE would co-host the 15th CISMEF.

During the event, Zhong presented commemorative plaques to consulate general of South Africa in Shanghai and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization.

The event was attended by nearly 100 representatives of over 40 consulates general and overseas institutions in Guangzhou.
